What We Believe

We have a firm foundation.

We believe the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by His Holy Spirit, Who moved supernaturally in its human authors so that they wrote it without error. The Bible declares itself to be the infallible revelation of God’s truth, and it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

God has saved us from our sins.

We believe that the Bible teaches that there is one God who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He created our first parents perfect and without sin, but they rebelled against Him and so have we all. All of us are born sinners and totally unable to save ourselves from our guilt and God’s displeasure except by His mercy and grace. So God alone sovereignly saves His people from their sins, not on the basis of any good in them or any foreseen faith, but on the basis of grace alone. He sent His Son to die for them, and sends His Spirit to turn their hearts toward Him. This is the Gospel, the Good News of salvation.

We serve a risen Savior.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God—God the Son!—through His perfect life lived the life we should have lived, and through His sacrificial death paid for the sins of all who will trust solely in him for salvation. The power of His death to save us from sin was demonstrated by His resurrection from the dead, after which He was seen by many witnesses. He then ascended physically into heaven, where He intercedes for His people before the Father.

His Spirit dwells in us.

We believe that the Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit to give God’s people a new birth so that they can respond to the the Gospel by placing their trust in Christ. This same Spirit comes to live inside believers, enlightening their minds, giving them strength and wisdom to persevere in their faith, and assuring them of eternal life.

He has established His covenant with us.

We believe that God has bound Himself to His people with promises of love, salvation, and eternal life. We call these promises His Covenant of Grace, and they are for believers and their children.

Jesus is coming again!

We believe that the Lord Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself for all eternity.

We live to please Him.

We believe that, because of all He has done for us in His love and mercy and grace, we are to love God with all our beings and love our neighbors as ourselves. In this way, our lives are to demonstrate the beauty and wonder of Who God is—what the Bible calls His glory—by serving Jesus Christ as our Lord. This truly pleases Him.
